The Bowen Technique was developed in Geelong, Australia in the 1950's by the late Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916-1982) and is recognized worldwide as a healing modality. Bowen Therapy is a form of treatment that works well for physical issues by addressing the nervous system. These powerful soft tissue moves affect the body on both a structural and physiological level, not only relieving symptoms but getting to the core of the issue. Bowen restores balance and vitality, often with remarkable results.
Bowen practitioners are highly skilled at assessing tissue tension and the degree of stress within the muscles. During a treatment, specific Bowen moves are performed to stimulate a healing response where required. There may be pauses between certain moves where the practitioner will leave the room, allowing maximum space for deep relaxation as the body releases tension within the muscles.
Bowen is safe to use on anyone from newborns to the elderly, the athletic to the frail. The soothing, restorative effects of Bowen can be helpful in reducing physical and emotional stress, improves circulation, lymphatic drainage and joint mobility. Bowen can also assist with the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.
Bowen is also a wonderful technique to use on animals and has exactly the same effects on them as it does on us. I am happy to treat both pet owners and their pets.
